Itโs been a relatively quiet decade for Eddie Murphy, but the comedy great looks set to return bigger and better in 2020.
The star of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise is reprising his role as Akeem in Coming To America 2 and is believed to be starting his own podcast next year.
Before this yearโs out, he also has the Netflix film Dolemite Is My Name dropping in October and is returning to host Saturday Night Live on December 21, the first time heโs been back on SNL since 1984. If thatโs not enough to get fans excited, Murphy let slip on the Netflix podcast series, Present Company with Krista Smith, that heโs also returning to stand-up comedy.

About 25 minutes into the podcast Murphy quipped โโฆ next year in 2020 Iโm going to go on the road and do some stand-up.โ This is massive news, as the star of the 1983 Delirious and 1987 Raw comedy specials hasnโt taken to the stage in three decades.
Although Murphy didnโt expand anymore on his plans, this isnโt the first time heโs been rumoured to get back into comedy, with Netflix reportedly offering him a cool $102 million to follow in the footsteps of fellow comedians Dave Chapelle and Chris Rock and record a special for the streaming service.
Whatever he chooses to do, fingers crossed he embarks on a worldwide tour and makes his way down under. Until then, enjoy this excerpt from Delirious.
