The Kith & G-Shock GM-6900 Rainbow Edition Is A Technicolour Beast

Kith and G-Shock team up to remix the classic GM-6900 for a Rainbow Edition

While Kith has worked with G-Shock to remix the GM-6900 before, the Ronnie Fieg-helmed streetwear brand clearly have a lot of ideas left for the 1995 silhouette. For the third expression of the GM-6900, Kith has designed the showy G-Shock GM-6900 Rainbow, defined by what looks like a chemical reaction fanning outwards across the technicolour cerachrom bezel.

This is the third time Kith and G-Shock have teamed up to rework the GM-6900, the first time resulting in a white resin case and rose-gold accents, and the second doubling down on luxury with a full rose-gold tone version. The G-Shock GM-6900 Rainbow is a hard left turn into the dramatic and rather flamboyant, using its multicoloured face to up wrist presence considerably.

The collaborative timepiece retains the typical GM-6900 look and performance – sporty, highly functional and clearly built for the outdoors. Yet there are some big differences to note, from Kith’s logo embossed on the base of the watch, to the monogram-printed translucent strap further covered with Kith’s signature branding.

Try to draw your attention away from the colour bomb of gold, green, purple, and blue hues for a second and you’d notice other features like a Kith debossed metal front button, working up a distinctive look to complement G-Shock performance signatures like an electro-luminescent backlit display, three measuring modes, water resistance up to 200 metres, shock resistance, two years of battery life, a calendar year through to 2099, and a multi-function alarm.

Anyone who has been paying attention to Kith largely would know that the brand has been busy making moves with various collaborations, most recently the official estate of late rap icon The Notorious BIG for a new capsule, and just a few months ago with BMW for a rather suave collection of clothing and apparel.

The Kith x G-Shock GM-6900 Rainbow retails for US$400 (~AU$524).
