To mark their 95th year producing high-end audio devices, Bang & Olufsen have, quite literally, gone for gold. In introducing a new ‘Gold Collection’, the stalwart Danish brand is revisiting some of their most remarkable achievements with a luxurious new signature colour worked up with gold-toned aluminium, blended with premium materials like solid oak, Carrara marble, and lambskin leather.

The collection kicked off recently as somewhat of a revivalist project, giving new life to Bang & Olufsen’s 1970s Beogram 4000c turntable. Now the series has been expanded to a nine-piece capsule, comprising headphones, true wireless earbuds, home and portable speakers, even TVs ranging from US$350 to US$85,000 (~AU$116,825).

Some key products in the Bang & Olufsen ‘Gold Collection’ include the new 360-degree Beosound 2 speaker, now glistening with an appropriately regal look, and the Beoplay E8 third-generation true wireless earphones. The portable Beosound A1 speaker also benefits from the midas touch, as does the Beosound Balance speaker, Beoplay H95 headphones, decorative Beoplay A9 speaker; moving up in scale, the Beovision Harmony OLED 4K television and both the uncompromisingly powerful Beolab 50 and Beolab 90 speakers receive the same treatment.

All products retain the same level of engineering and specs that have made each of these products some of the most highly sought audio devices throughout the brand’s storied history. The only difference is that each exterior now glows with the warmth and luxury of gold-tone aluminium specially produced by Bang & Olufsen’s factory in Struer, Denmark.

Most importantly, the gold detailing seamlessly fits amongst each device’s individual profile, echoing the gentle design flourishes Bang & Olufsen are known for. For example, the Beosound Balance still sports that weighty Carrara marble bass on which the actual device sits, except now, the concave textured top sports a golden hue, flowing seamlessly onto the speaker’s solid gold bottom.

The Bang & Olufsen ‘Gold Collection’ will be available online and at select third-party retailers from November 17th of 2020.
