Announced last week, the iPhone 16 is due to hit stores in Australia on Friday. As with every new phone launch from Apple, Australia’s biggest telcos are all jostling for your hard-earned money, attempting to one-up each other with various preorder offers.

If you’re someone who updates their iPhone annually, these offers shouldn’t come as a huge shock. Most preorder deals involve trading in your old handset with discounts that range up to $1,500 — depending on your choice of telco.

As for the new iPhone range, the phones are powered by the new A18/A18 Pro chips, along with an ‘Action Button’ and the brand new Camera Control button. On the operating front they’re also powered by Apple’s new AI, known as “Apple Intelligence”.

Here are the best preorder deals that are available for the iPhone 16 range.

The Best iPhone 16 Preorder Deals

Apple Offers

Apple’s preorder offer is pretty standard and is only beneficial if you prefer to buy your phone outright. If you trade in your old iPhone, you can get between $50 to $1,125 worth of credit that’ll be applied to the cost of your iPhone 16.

The total credit you’ll get depends on which iPhone model you trade in, along with its condition. So don’t expect a hefty discount for your iPhone 11 with a busted screen.

You can check out Apple’s iPhone 16 preorder offers here.

Vodafone Offers

Vodafone has a trade-in offer as well, which includes a bonus credit worth $150 (to a total of $1,290) provided that you don’t sign up for its $79 per month plan.

If you’re a new Vodafone customer, the telco is offering to knock $1,299 off the cost of your iPhone 16 model (regardless of which make you pick up). This will be doled out as $36 discount each month and is only available with Vodafone’s $79 plan.

You’ll also need to stay connected for 36 months. If you cancel your plan before that limitation period ends, you’ll forfeit the credit and have to pay the rest of the phone’s cost outright. You can also stack trade-in credit onto this offer, as long as you stay connected for the duration of your plan.

You can check out Vodafone’s iPhone 16 preorder offers here. Vodafone’s plans start at $46.55 per month for 50GB of storage.

Telstra Offers

Telstra is also offering credit if you trade in your old handset but at a higher value of up to $1,500 (which includes a $275 bonus credit). Again, your total credit will be determined by the model you trade in and its current condition. Basically: the newer, the better.

If you’re signing up for a new service, you’ll also receive 40,000 Telstra Plus Points, which can be used to make purchases through the Rewards store.

Check out Telstra’s iPhone 16 preorder offers here. Telstra’s upfront plans start at $65 per month for 50GB of storage.

Optus Offers

Optus has a trade-in offer as well, with the same price point as Telstra’s. Depending on the model and the condition of the phone you trade-in, you’ll receive a gift card that’s valued at up to $1,500.

You can check out Optus’ iPhone 16 preorder offers here. Optus’ plans start at $52 per month for 50GB of storage.
