There’s perhaps no other colour that triggers a more nationally emotive response than the colour blue. As the mercury soars and a sweltering summer arrives, so too does the striking Defender ‘Pacific Blue’ that embodies our collective love of the ocean like no other wheels to come before it.

Just 15 of this short-wheel-base whip will be specced exclusively for the Australian market with expressions of interest already open for barrel-chasing Defender die-hards eager to be a part of a very tight-knit club of owners.

Adventure mode is dialled up to the max with this limited edition two-door Defender 90, which turns heads in a sharp satin blue wrap and throws back to the heritage Defenders of the decades gone by with a white contrast roof, door handles, and white steel rims.

Outdoor aficionados will froth the black side-mounted gear carrier, portable rinse system, and surf ski/kayak rack that carries a custom DEFENDER-branded Hayden Shapes board.

If you’re a regular frequenter of the Defender build-your-own configurator online, you’ll know that further touches like a sliding panoramic roof and privacy glass go a long way in toughening any spec, as if the case for this Pacific Blue 90. Other boxes ticked include electronic air suspension (an absolute necessity for rural Aussie roads), adaptive dynamics, and headlight levelling.

Underfoot with respect to powertrain, this limited edition sports a D250 Ingenium twin-turbo six-cylinder diesel engine and puts down 250PS and 570Nm of torque through 18-inch all-terrain rubber. These tyres will ensure owners they’ll never be starved of finding the perfect surf break, regardless of how hard it is to access.

Inside, the Pacific Blue is based on the S trim level, which brings on board white contrasting accents on the steering wheel and door panel. There is also a white powder-coated brushed finish cross-beam. The driver and front passenger will sit in Ebony 12-way semi-powered heated seats wrapped in grained leather. An upgraded Meridian Sound System is also built-in.

Each unit is badged with a blue mosaic that reads “One of 15” and can only be ordered in the 90 model variant.

Prices for the Defender ‘Pacific Blue’ Limited Edition start from $129,976 plus on-road costs. Customers can expect deliveries to commence from May 2024.
