Toyota’s GR Yaris Becomes Just The Sixth Car To Cop A 10/10 From Top Gear

The latest addition to Toyota’s Gazoo Racing sub-brand – the explosive Toyota GR Yaris – has just copped an elusive 10/10 from motoring authority Top Gear. This is only the sixth car in the history of the magazine to receive the coveted dime and follows in the skid marks of some incredible machines.

They claim the GR Yaris is the closest thing to a rally car you can legally drive on a road – they even go as far to say that it’s “the best Toyota [they’ve] ever driven.”

Under the bonnet is the world’s most powerful production three-cylinder, a 1.6-litre with 192kW and 361Nm. The only transmission choice is a six-speed manual, and the 4WD system is claimed to be the lightest on the market.

Remarkably, if you give the manual handbrake a tug while driving, it actually disconnects the drive to the rear wheels – just like a rally car.

Top Gear has previously awarded the 10/10 rating to just five cars before it; the ‘Holy Trinity’ (Porsche 918, Ferrari LaFerrari & McLaren P1), the Ferrari 250 and the McLaren 675LT. That’s one hell of a hall of fame to be in.

Back in September, Toyota Australia was offering the first 1,000 buyers of this outrageous machine a massive discount. To no surprise, it was snapped up quick smart, but you can read the Top Gear review here and check out the Toyota GR Yaris in more detail over at the official website.
