In an announcement that should get the blood pumping for all American F1 fans, the automotive giant Ford is set to make its return to the pinnacle of motorsport in 2026.

This comes just a few months after rumours of a possible entry into the F1 by Porsche and Volkswagen Group stablemate Audi in 2026, following the group registering to trademark the term “F1nally.”

Ford has already enjoyed more than its fair share of F1 success, as the third most successful engine manufacturer in the history of the sport with a hand in no less than 10 constructors’ championships and 13 drivers’ championships.

So why 2026? Well, the F1 recently approved new engine regulations that will come into effect that year, in a change that could blow the field wide open as more competitive and exciting for fans.

“This is the start of a thrilling new chapter in Ford’s motorsports story that began when my great-grandfather [Henry Ford] won a race that helped launch our company,” said Bill Ford, Executive Chairman of Ford Motor Company.

“Ford is returning to the pinnacle of the sport, bringing Ford’s long tradition of innovation, sustainability and electrification to one of the world’s most visible stages.”
