Hit The Slopes In Retro Threads With The FILA x Rowing Blazers Capsule

The New York-based label Rowing Blazers has just released their latest collaboration with FILA, featuring a mix of ski-inspired designs infused with secondary colours to send you straight back to the ’90s. The 13-piece drop is intended as a homage to the signature style of legendary mountaineer Reinhold Messner, reflected in its vibrant colours and graphic patterns.

For FILA, this marks a return to the lifestyle label’s origins in the bustling sporting scene in the Italian Alps more than a century ago. With Rowing Blazers offering their signature sense of irreverent prep style, this line of ski-ready silhouettes is chock full of some gorgeously garish colours (such as neon pink, highlighter yellow, and pistachio green).

Rowing Blazers Founder Jack Carlson has reportedly had his sights on FILA as a collaborative partner for some time now, praising the brand for its efforts in forming an aesthetic now inextricably linked to the early ’90s. After the release of their first – and comparatively restrained – collaborative capsule last year, this latest dropped seemed inevitable.

The collection includes classic Rowing Blazers rugby shirts, as well as some bold ski jackets and puffer vests that immediately grab your attention. Complete with their dual-branded patch logo and the distinctive zig-zag pattern that Rowing Blazers is known for, there’s a set of polyfill ski separates, a half-zip fleece jacket with a detachable hood, and some vibrant tees. The accessories in the capsule include a fanny pack, some goggles, and a colour-blocked beanie.

Also featured in the collection are two mountain-ready shoe silhouettes, inspired by FILA’s history with the outdoors. The Fixture, which is a modern spin on a characteristically ’90s-looking stomper, and the Expeditioner, a completely fresh function-focused design. Both styles come with corded laces, heavy-duty lug soles, and splashy reflective stripes intended for your next ski trip. Though it isn’t strictly streetwear, both shoes are done up in the sort of eye-grabbing, vividly-hued colours in keeping with the rest of the collection.

The full Rowing Blazers x FILA Ski collection will be available starting December 11 on the Rowing Blazers site, and select styles from the collaboration will also be available at FILA.
