Even when you’re going off-piste, that’s hardly an excuse to let the side down by settling for mundane alpine dressing – a mantra that Gucci’s designers appear to be living by, with the release of their new Après-Ski capsule in the run-up to Christmas.

Captured by Canadian photographer Mark Peckmezian (who fashionistos will likely know from his extensive body of work over at Fantastic Man) the capsule blends together chalet-ready sportswear with Gucci’s characteristically infectious energy – taking the form of exploded prints, block colours, and the house’s recognisable red-green piping.

Notably, a number of statement pieces – across the men’s and women’s collections – are also emblazoned with the trefoil: an in-capsule nod to the latest phase of Gucci’s ongoing partnership with Adidas, which has previously included everything from Gucci-fied sportswear to an entire run of collaboratively designed Gazelle trainers.

In line with Gucci’s focus in recent years on the pleasures of travel, a good deal of the most interesting releases from this Après-Ski lineup are in fact unrelated to snowbound sporting.

We’re particularly big fans of the ‘Cabin Trolley’: a $5,000 riposte to whatever design happens to be ‘flavour of the month’ over at Rimowa, made in collaboration with the premium Italian luggage brand, FPM Milano. The latter has become something of a favoured partner for Gucci – helping to manufacture the various pieces making up its luggage-specific universe of ‘Valigeria’ products.
