As sports fans embrace Wimbledon-mania, Gucci has introduced a one-off collection of tennis-themed apparel, inspired by the Houseโs rich archive of heritage sportswear dating back to the 1970s.
Following a soft rollout in France this past May, the collection is now making its global debut online; accompanied by a campaign featuring George Loffhagen and Emma Cohen (two professional players currently on the ITF circuit).
Together, the young Brits model a selection of suitably throwback sportswear: much of which will look reassuringly familiar to Gucci stans, including volley-ready pique polos and the historic โTennis 1977โ โ here, making its return in leather and white canvas.

The 70s inspiration of Gucci Tennis can be glimpsed in any of the collectionโs main motifs. There are the colour-matched tennis whites (available for both women and men); the very solid line-up of player accessories; and the liberal usage of the web stripe throughout.
Described by Gucci execs as โa signature code that weaves together the past and present,โ we particularly like the way this red-and-green element has been incorporated on many of the larger statement pieces: such as the quarter-zip worn by Cohen or Loffhagenโs piped cardigan below.

In line with Gucciโs history of crafting luxury-grade tennis accessories, bags and footwear are the other indispensable part of this collection. The aforementioned โTennis 1977โ low-tops employ a striking italicised signature, recalling Gucciโs visual identity in the 1920s.
Meanwhile, we can see the new tennis-themed duffle getting a solid workout in a variety of scenarios. Similar to Gucciโs best selling webbed medium duffle, this overnight bagโs big point of difference is its use of chalk-white โGG Supremeโ canvas. With this much visibility, chances are, you wonโt be misplacing it after your next doubles session.
