Zegna Taps Kieran Culkin, ‘Succession’ Actor & Hyena Impersonator, For Its ‘Triple Stitch’ Sneaker

Clearly now having embraced his oft-odious, always hilarious turn as billionaire scion Roman Roy, Kieran Culkin – of Succession and The Cider House Rules fame – has just been appointed the latest ambassador for textile titan-turned-luxury brand Zegna.

Tapped specifically to rep the Italian powerhouse’s luxury footwear collections, Culkin’s first appearance in the role sees him take to a lofty New York penthouse (an “embarrassment of footage,” as one Mr Gregory Hirsch might say) wearing the Triple Stitch, Zegna’s answer to the deluge of leisurely casual footwear options that have become a telltale signifier of the One (and-would-be-One) Percent.

Cleverly drawing on all the familiar aesthetic cues of the ubiquitous luxury sneaker (interwoven with Zegna’s own unique sartorial heritage) the Triple Stitch feels like a younger, distant relative of the Lazyman brogue and Belgian slipper.

One of the best performing “hero” SKUs to be introduced by Alessandro Sartori (who has been Zegna’s Artistic Director for the best part of a decade) it isn’t hard to imagine why the Triple Stitch has found a niche inside the wardrobes and monogrammed trunks of elite, private jet-chartering types.

Clean, streamlined and with just enough internal rigidity to outclass your average gym shoe – these are made with a strobel construction – Zegna has designed these Triple Stitches to be worn with the new-age tailored uniform that has been a creative bright spot of Sartori’s these past few collections. Take a leaf of inspiration out of Culkin’s playbook, and wear these along with a matching cashmere overshirt-and-sweatpant combo.

Culkin’s appointment is the latest move by Zegna to strengthen its burgeoning “232 Community”: an ambassador program named for the iconic road (of the same name) inside Oasi Zegna – the company’s 100-square-kilometre homestead in the Biellese Alps.

Joining a number of other young creative trailblazers such as Isaac Hempstead Wright and Italian hip-hop artist Marracash, Culkin is the latest 232 spokesperson to embody Zegna’s knack for “bold decision making and a shared commitment to excellence” – whatever that may mean in the context of prestige television acting.
