Fresh off the announcement that its loyalty program has hit an 11 million member milestone, Virgin Australia will close out the year with a Velocity Frequent Flyer Double Points offer. Any member who wants to earn double Velocity points will just need to book an eligible flight between now and December 14.

These kinds of offers are quite rare for any airline, let alone an Australian one, so this double Velocity points offer is a hefty nod to Velocity Frequent Flyers who are planning on travelling between now and October 31, 2023.

The offer is available for all eligible flight bookings made by December 14, although travel dates are extended until next Halloween.

Virgin Australia has set up a promo page for the offer where you’ll just need to enter your Velocity membership number and press activate, then book a flight by the date above.

The Velocity Frequent Flyer Double Points offer translates to earning 10 Velocity Points per $1 spent. For example, if you’re locking in a business class flight from Sydney to Perth you’re looking at around $1,399 and you’ll get 13,990 Velocity Points in return.

There are a few caveats. To earn Double Points you’ll need to fly on a domestic, trans-Tasman or international short-haul flight operated by Virgin Australia and flown between now and 11:59 PM AEST on October 31.

Points cannot be earned on Velocity Reward Seat bookings either and this offer doesn’t apply to codeshare services or flights operated by partner airlines.

This also means that Silver, Gold or Platinum Velocity members can’t use their bonuses to take advantage of the offer as this only applies to the base earn.

The points you’d usually earn should be credited to your Velocity membership almost immediately, but it should take up to four weeks for the 100% bonus to be allocated to you after you touch down on your eligible flight.
