From now until August 3rd, Virgin Australia frequent flyers who book an eligible flight and travel before New Year’s Eve will earn twice the number of status credits than usual – meaning the elusive Gold and Platinum frequent flyer tiers are now within reach.

The status fast-track promotion must first be activated by logged-in frequent flyers to qualify, either by clicking on the link in their Velocity email or navigating to the “My Offers” page in their frequent flyer account. Savvy travellers then need to book an eligible Virgin Australia flight, which is any domestic, Trans-Tasman or international short-haul Virgin Australia marketed and operated flight that normally earns Status Credits.

Travel must be between today, July 25th and December 31st (inclusive).

Better yet? There’s no limit to the number of times this offer can be redeemed. If your future travel plans for 2023 are more or less set in stone, or you regularly fly set dates and routes for business, now is the time to book your travel and reap the rewards.

For example, if you’re heading to Bali in the near future, an Economy Choice fare (which includes baggage and seat selection) just doubled to 90 status credits, up from the usual 45.

Alternatively, hop across to Queenstown in Business and you’ll clock up a juicy 380 status credits for the return journey. If you’re starting from scratch this can unlock Virgin Silver status immediately. Benefits of Silver status include 50% bonus points, preferential seating, international priority check-in, and two complimentary domestic lounge passes for your membership year.

If you’re aiming a little higher, the Virgin double status credits promotion could get you access to the coveted perks of Gold or Platinum status – the most significant of which is lounge access across Virgin and partner airlines worldwide.

The key emphasis here is partner airlines, which means that your Virgin status can facilitate a premium travel experience all over the world on the likes of Singapore Airlines, United, Etihad, Air Canada and Qatar Airways.

Head to Virgin’s website to log in, activate the promotion, and pull the trigger on your next trip now.
