Wait A Minute, Hasbulla & Shaq Are Going To Be In Australia… At The Same Time

I must confess. When it was announced modern icon Hasbulla Magomedov and NBA Hall-of-Famer Shaq (full name: Shaquille O’Neal) would be visiting Australia, my chimp brain was sent into overload. So much so that it’s taken the better part of a month to fully regain my senses and realise perhaps the most important epiphany of 2022…

Hasbulla and Shaq won’t just be in the same country at the same time — they’ll also be in the same cities.

What’s even more intriguing, however, is that their respective tours are being handled by the same promoter. Which begs the million-dollar question: are we about to witness the most ambitious – and insanely beloved – crossover of all time?

Understand that this goes beyond the novelty of their size difference alone, although Hasbulla’s 3’3″ (100-centimetre) frame against Big Shaq’s hulking 7’1″ (216-centimetre) silhouette admittedly lends itself to an entire world of comparison-based spectacles/comedy. Spectacles/comedy, it’s worth adding, which haven’t been challenged in a meaningful way since the Guinness World Records connected Turkey’s Sultan Kösen with Nepal’s Chandra Bahadur Dangi circa 2014.

Imagine the wholesome scenes that could take place. Hasbulla on Shaq’s shoulders, sightseeing in Sydney and Melbourne. The untouchability of the friendship this hypothetical occasion could forge. And it wouldn’t exactly be something outside of the Dagestani wunderkind’s day-to-day, either. As you know, he’s mates with Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Better yet, what are the chances Hasbulla makes a guest appearance during Shaq’s upcoming DJ set at Marquee Sydney? The possibilities are endless.

At the time of this writing, however, nothing has been confirmed. It’s simply suspiciously convenient timing married with next-level speculation.

Keen to see Hasbulla and Shaq when both larger-than-life figures come to Australia next month? Unfortunately, tickets to both The Hour Group’s An Evening With Shaq and Shaq’s DJ set as Diesel at Marquee Sydney have been completely sold out.
