ICYMI โ Chris Hemsworth has been tapped to portray iconic wrestler, Hulk Hogan, in a Netflix film directed by Todd Phillips (The Hangover, Joker). Currently, thereโs much excitement surrounding this projectโs potential. But no one is as excited as Hemsworth himself for what may prove to be his most physically challenging role yet.
โAs a kid, I remember seeing Hulk Hogan as this larger-than-life character,โ says Hemsworth.
โThe preparation for the role will be insanely physical. I will have to put on more size than I ever have before โ even more than I put on for Thor.โ
Given what we know about the manโs dedication towards the physical aspect of a role, one can only imagine the lengths he will go this time around. A dedication that hasnโt solely been limited to cultivating mass to appear jacked for a Marvel film, either. As many of you may recall, Hemsworth famously shed a fair few kilos for In the Heart of the Sea.
The good news for the Byron Bay local is that time appears to be on his side. As multiple reports are indicating โ in addition to a statement by his own admission โ itโll be a little while before this upcoming Hulk Hogan biopic actually hits theatres.
โThe project is deep in development. Todd Phillips and I met to chat about it maybe a year or two ago. We talked about the idea for the film, which I think was going to be a TV series at one point.โ
โThere were a few different ideas about what portion of his life it was going to be set in, so we spitballed about what it could be and what I thought it might beโฆ the script is in the process of being written โ but Hulk Hogan is still quite a ways away.โ
In any case, we look forward to publishing a follow-up article about the insane fitness + diet routine involved with this impending on-screen transformation when those details eventually come to light.
