Three years since dropping his 2018 LP KOD, J. Cole has announced his new album โ The Off-Season โ will finally be arriving next week on May 14th.
The North Carolina rapper (real name: Jermaine Cole) shared the news via social media accompanied by what we assume is the album cover and the following note: โJust know this was years in the making.โ No further details such as track list, features, and so forth have been revealed as of yet.
Originally titled The Fall Off, J. Coleโs new album will mark his sixth studio release. Last year, the project was teased by two tracks: โThe Climb Backโ and โLion King On Ice.โ As noted by The Rolling Stone, itโs currently unclear whether theyโll actually appear on The Off-Season or if The Fall Off remains an entirely separate endeavour a la Kanye Westโs Jesus Is King and Yandhi.
Prior to the soft preview, to keep his fans from starving, J. Cole also made an appearance on the 2019 Revenge of the Dreamers III compilation record, most notably with tracks such as โUnder The Sunโ alongside Lute and DaBaby, โDown Badโ featuring JID, Bas, EarthGang, and Young Nudy, as well as several others.
And just because it ainโt the hip-hop game without a little beef, somewhere in between the preview and Revenge of the Dreamers III, Cole found some time to fired off a diss track โ โSnow On Tha Bluffโ โ aimed squarely at Noname. He would later rescind his criticism, while Noname responded in kind with โSong 33โ, before later admitting she wasnโt proud of herself for dignifying the initial provocation.
Once again, J. Cole will return with his new album The Off-Season on May 14th.
