  • We’ve got our first look at Clint Eastwood’s latest film: the courtroom thriller Juror No. 2.
  • The film stars Nicholas Hoult as a juror who realises he may have been responsible for the victim’s death when he’s assigned to a murder trial.
  • Toni Collette, J.K. Simmons, Kiefer Sutherland, and Chris Messina also star.

A legal thriller directed by Clint Eastwood is a Deadpool & Wolverine-tier event for dads who enjoy watching movies while standing in the living room. They’re likely to get around Eastwood’s latest film, Juror No. 2, which has just been announced with a full-length trailer that feels like a throwback to the courtroom dramas that dominated the 1990s.

Nicholas Hoult leads the film, playing a juror who is assigned to a high-profile murder trial. However, as proceedings unfolds, he realises that he in fact may have been responsible for the victim’s death. Turns out a deer he hit while driving in the rain might not have been a deer at all. Caught in a high-stakes moral dilemma, a lot of the drama appears to centre on whether Hoult’s character will stay silent, or comes clean in a revelation that has the potential to derail the prosecution.

Hoult is joined by a pretty solid supporting cast, which includes Toni Collette, J. K. Simmons, and Kiefer Sutherland.

As far as late-career runs go, Eastwood’s has mostly been a decent one. Over the last decade, he’s directed films like Sully, Richard Jewell, and American Sniper — the latter of which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture.

Juror No. 2 is Eastwood’s first film since 2021’s Cry Macho, which he both directed and starred in. Considering that Eastwood turned 94 back in May, this could very well be his final outing in the director’s chair.

The film began production back in June 2023 but was put on hold the following month until November due to the SAF-AFTRA strike.

An Australian release date has yet to be announced, but it’s set to premiere in US cinemas on November 1st, 2024 — check out the full trailer above.
