They say delayed gratification is the greatest kind. If that’s truly the case, then the lengthy two-year wait for Dan Erickson’s Severance season 2 — which has just locked in January 17th, 2025 for its official release date — will surely make for satisfying viewing.
Prior to the premiere announcement trailer above, Apple TV+ previewed its hit sci-fi psychological thriller alongside the likes of Slow Horses, Silo, Shrinking, Pachinko, Presumed Innocent starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Wolfs starring George Clooney & Brad Pitt, as well as Scarlett Johansson’s Fly Me To The Moon.

This was followed up with a first-look image referencing the show’s high-concept twist regarding memory: “Your innie has already seen this image.”
For the uninitiated, the entire premise revolves around a biotech company known as Lumon Industries, which makes use of a medical procedure called “severance” to separate the memories of their employees.
Severed workers (“innies”) cannot remember anything about their lives or the outside world while at the Lumon offices and vice versa in the outside world (“outies”).
As a result, innies and outies experience two very different lives with distinct personalities and agendas. It also opens up rather intriguing story opportunities for us: the viewers.
The second season of Severance will mark the return of Adam Scott as Mark Scout — a former history professor turned severed Lumon employee in the Macrodata Refinement division; Britt Lower as Helly Riggs — a new severed employee who replaces Yul Vazquez’s Peter “Petey” Kilmer; Zach Cherry as Dylan George — Mark’s severed co-worker; and John Turturro as Irving Bailiff — another one of Mark’s severed co-worker who’s a stickler for company policy.
