They say delayed gratification is the greatest kind. If that’s truly the case, then the two-year wait for Dan Erickson’s Severance season 2 will surely make for satisfying viewing.
Up until this point, we’ve been drip-fed everything from a first-look image referencing the Emmy-nominated show’s high-concept twist (captioned “Your innie has already seen this image”); and Apple TV+ sizzle reel footage, featured alongside Slow Horses, Silo, Shrinking, Pachinko, as well as Presumed Innocent starring Jake Gyllenhaal; to August’s premiere announcement confirming its release date.

Now, we’ve received a considerably meatier preview with the latest teaser trailer. Concerningly unfamiliar faces and all.
For the uninitiated, the entire premise revolves around a biotech company known as Lumon Industries, which makes use of a medical procedure called “severance” to separate the memories of their employees. Severed workers (“innies”) cannot remember anything about their lives or the outside world while at the Lumon offices and vice versa in the outside world (“outies”).
As a result, innies and outies experience two very different lives with distinct personalities and agendas. It also opens up rather intriguing story opportunities. According to Apple TV+, in the wake of last season’s reveal, “Mark (Adam Scott) and his friends learn the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe.”
Aside from Scott’s former history professor turned severed Lumon employee, Severance season 2 hails the return of Britt Lower as Helly Riggs — a new severed employee who replaces Yul Vazquez’s Peter “Petey” Kilmer; Tramell Tillman as Seth Milchick — Mark’s supervisor on the severed floor of Lumon; Zach Cherry as Dylan George — Mark’s severed co-worker; and John Turturro as Irving Bailiff — another one of Mark’s severed co-worker who’s a stickler for company policy.

The cast also includes high-profile names such as Patricia Arquette and Christopher Walken. Ben Stiller and Aoife McArdle serve as both series directors and executive producers.
Like we said before, Apple TV+ has now confirmed the Severance season 2 release date (for Australia and internationally) — January 17th, 2025. Check out the teaser trailer above, sizzle reel footage below, and stay tuned for all the fresh details which may come.
