- The set location for ‘The White Lotus’ season 4 has been confirmed as Saint-Tropez, inside the spectacular Château de La Messardière.
- This is the first time the social satire has been set in Europe, following seasons in Hawaii, Sicily, and, most recently, Thailand.
- Situated in the rolling hills of the French Riviera town, current prices start from around €1000 (~AU$1,700) per night in the low season.
Speculation around the location of The White Lotus season 4 has been churning for months, and while it was revealed the upcoming season would be set somewhere in France, the specific site remained a mystery until now.
As first reported by Variety, the next instalment of the near-universally popular dramedy will be the 19th-century Château de La Messardière, situated in the heart of Saint-Tropez. This marks the first time the HBO series has partnered with the ultra-luxury Airelles hotel collection, which also owns spectacular properties in Courchevel, Giudecca (across the water from Venice), and even Château de Versailles.

Production for the upcoming season is set to kick off in April 2026, with the story unfolding along the Mediterranean coast, as well as a brief sojourn to Paris for some extra intrigue. It’s a sharp pivot after Hawaii, Sicily, and Thailand – trading volcanic cliffs and island jungles for azure bays, private beach clubs, and the kind of hillside glamour that’s been tempting blue-blooded sinners since the Belle Époque.
Perched above Saint-Tropez on 32 acres of cypress trees and parasol pines, Château de La Messardière looks purpose-built for the elegant meltdowns and awkward breakfasts we’ve all come to expect from The White Lotus. Alexander Ludwig and AJ Michalka are confirmed to join the ensemble, with wider casting underway.

The Saint-Tropez setting is a far cry from what Patrick Schwarzenegger, who played Saxon Ratliff in the hit show’s Thailand edition, had hoped for when he revealed to Boss Hunting last year that a backdrop of alpine powder was on his mind.
“No, [series creator Mike White] hasn’t told me anything. I’ve said that I always thought a ski resort or mountain would be really beautiful,” Schwarzenegger admitted. “It probably wouldn’t work logistically to film out in the snow, you know? The weather would be too crazy and non-reliant. On a yacht would also be really fun, I think.”

While there’s no confirmation on exactly when we can expect to see The White Lotus season 4 arrive on our screens, it’s expected to be available towards the end of this year or in early 2027.
