Virgin Australia has just dropped a massive Black Friday sale ahead of the official sales event kicking off tomorrow, cutting 500,000 fares across both domestic and international flights by 30%.

With Black Friday weekend officially kicking off tomorrow, you’re going to start seeing a bunch of big-name brands, across everything from tech to travel, put up some substantial sales to get involved in the annual online sales event.

This Virgin Australia sale is easily one of the most significant we’ve seen thus far, dropping fares so low in the four-day sale that you could nab a one-way flight for $55 to destinations like Gold Coast, Byron Bay, Queenstown and Bali. If you want to jet off to Queenstown, you’re looking at around $300 each way.

As with all big airline sales, there are a few things to take note of before you start snatching up those cheap Virgin Australia flights. Travel is for select dates from January to June 2023 only and the sale ends at midnight AEST on Tuesday, November 29 – unless sold out prior.

And don’t worry. It looks like these cheap Virgin Australia flights also count as full fare – albeit Economy Lite – so you’ll earn the same Velocity Frequent Flyer Points and Status Credits as you would with a full price flight.

Velocity Frequent Flyer members are now able to use their points to pay for part or all of the purchase of select items like a Dyson V8 vacuum or Tefal Air Fryer. And the number of points actually required by Myer has been reduced significantly, so you could pick up say a KitchenAid Mixer worth $749 for less than 100,000 points this weekend.

Similarly, if you want to shop around of Velocity e-store and use your points there, know that some purchases will come with a hefty amount of bonus points from now until December 15. This includes earning 8 points per every $1 on brands like Jo Malone, Estee Lauder and JAG.
