Just when the heat surrounding his acquisition of a US$7.1 million / $9.2 million Spanish colonial-style mansion in Los Angeles was beginning to settle – a gift for his mother, in case you were wondering – the West Village apartment (read: bachelor pad) which once belonged to Leonardo DiCaprio has not-so-quietly re-entered the New York City property market, listed for US$8.5 million / AU$11 million.

Located at 66 East 11th Street within the health-conscious Delos building, DiCaprio’s bachelor pad is a full-floor loft that offers 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms spread across 3,663-square feet. The Wolf of Wall Street actor initially purchased the property for US$10 million / AU$13 million back in 2014 before offloading it at a US$2 million / AU$2.6 million loss a mere two years later. DiCaprio does, however, serve on the building’s advisory board.

So how does this joint justify its price tag? Highly desirable location aside, the Delos building – which is the only “WELL-Certified” building in the entire world… whatever that means – provides the following wellness-related amenities that are pretty essential for someone who makes a living from looking good in front of a camera:

  • Vitamin C-infused showers to “help eliminate residual chlorine, promote healthy skin & hair”
  • Purified air & water
  • In-duct aromatherapy
  • Posture-supportive heat reflexology flooring w/ rift-cut Siberian oak
  • Anti-microbial coating on countertops and doors
  • Circadian rhythm lighting system
  • Bio-based insulation for “optimum sound attenuation”
  • Triple glazed windows facing north & south
  • Irrigated interior planters to grow some greenery indoors without hassle

As the AVClub notes, it’s like being able to go to the spa every single day… if going to the spa also incurred a US$6,118 / AU$8,000 maintenance fee month after month to ensure the amenities are in tip-top condition.

In line with the usual luxurious New York City apartment shtick, other features you’ll encounter include a fully decked-out kitchen complete with polished quartzite countertops, Viking + Miele + Bosch + Sub-Zero appliances, 78-bottle dual zone wine fridge, irrigated interior window box herbarium, fruit & veggies juicer, master ensuite highlighted by a grey onyx jacuzzi fusion soaking tub, and obligatory dressing room.
