One-off menus and special events are a dime a dozen when it comes to some of Sydney’s best restaurants. The city’s wealth of upscale diners regularly drum up some sort of ticketed event, typically anchored on a theme or to celebrate certain ingredients being in season. Rarely, though, do one-off menus excite us as much as this – Bentley Restaurant & Bar, one of the city’s most reliable fine dining restaurants, plans to open up the acclaimed Bentley Wine Vault for an intimate dinner on Tuesday, September 6th, pairing 14 extremely rare old-world European wines with a luxurious menu for no less than $1,000 a ticket.

Almost every year since Bentley Restaurant & Bar was opened in 2006 by chef Brent Savage and sommelier Nick Hildebrandt, the fine diner’s wine list has been named one of the very best in Australia. Hildebrandt’s well-sourced treasure trove of varietals from all over the world is good enough on any day, but there are certain off-menu drops that the public doesn’t usually have access to. Or know about.

That’s what makes this Bentley wine dinner such a compelling offering, pulling no punches when it comes to fine, rare – mostly French – wines that date all the way back to 1979 vintages, pulled from regions such as Champagne, Burgundy and Alsace. And don’t worry, we’ve listed all of them below so you know exactly what to expect for the punchy price of $1,000 per person.

Tickets to the Bentley wine dinner will obviously be capped at a very limited number, seeing as it will all take place in the restaurant’s quaint private dining room.

“This is a rare opportunity to taste some of the rarest wines on the planet, paired with a menu of luxe ingredients, this will be a night to remember,” said Hildebrandt, who will be hosting the night with General Manager Paul Guiney.

See the full menu and matching wines below and if you want to buy a ticket to the Bentley wine dinner you’ll need to call the restaurant at (02) 8214 0505.
