Few whiskies inspire devotion quite like Ardbeg, with its signature smoke and peaty profile earning it an army of followers who’ve kept the distillery’s fires burning for decades. Now, the legendary distillery is celebrating 25 years of the Ardbeg Committee, offering Australians a once-in-a-lifetime chance to prove their loyalty and win a trip to Islay, staying at the newly opened Ardbeg House boutique hotel.
From September 25 to November 30, 2025, Aussies can enter the competition to win a stay at Ardbeg House by submitting a photo or short video showcasing their smoky devotion. Entries are open to all Ardbeg Committee members (sign-up is free), and there are two paths to victory: a People’s Choice vote and a Co-Committee Chair’s selection, judged by Gillian Macdonald and Bryony McNiven– the committee’s first co-chairs since its inception. Anyone who appreciates the Ardbeg lifestyle should get voting for their favourite entry (or better yet get their friends to vote for them) for the People’s Choice award.
Formerly the Islay Hotel in Port Ellen, situated just a short walk from the legendary distillery, the property has been reimagined in collaboration with Russell Sage Studio and more than 20 local artisans, blending whimsical detail with unmistakable Ardbeggian flair. Think copper wall art forged from a retired still, chandeliers made from upturned fishing boats, and even buttons labelled “Press for Smoke.”
Ardbeg House offers guests 12 individually themed suites, a peat-burning fire table in the restaurant, and a bar serving exclusive bottlings like the mysterious Ardbeg Badger Juice. A stay at Ardbeg’s new accommodation promises to elevate any whisky pilgrimage to the Scottish Isles into an unforgettable adventure.
