Cop Takeaway From High-End Eateries With Saving Plates

Takeaway Saving Plates

A lot of industries have been hit hard as we begin to work and stay home for longer. None have been affected more than our local restaurants and cafes, who’ve seen a significant decline in patronage as fewer people pop in for their usual feed or drink, opting for takeaway options instead.

Sydney based food journalist Tristan Lutze witnessed this decline firsthand and wanted to see what he could do to help. His solution is Saving Plates, a website and Instagram created to showcase the increasing amount of Sydney/NSW restaurants offering takeaway and/or delivery for the first time.

It’s an interesting landscape as a decent chunk of high-end venues have begun to offer their menus in the form of casual takeaway, allowing you to enjoy their offerings from the comfort of your home.

A couple of local classics are already listed across Sydney, including Nomad in Surry Hills, Spice Alley in Chippendale and Lankan Filling Station in Darlinghurst, with further restaurants to be added as the situation continues to develop. With most of these spots usually charging a pretty penny to sit down and sample their menu, it’s a good chance to stay in your pajamas and enjoy some opulence from your couch.

For now, the site and Instagram are only focused on Sydney/NSW but you can find out offerings in Melbourne by using #rescuepack. Keep checking for updates and make sure you support your local joint in these tough times.
