A multi-million dollar floating beach club has opened up on the Gold Coast, spearheaded by the same team behind Glass Dining & Lounge Bar and Koi Broadbeach, Gennari Group. La Luna Beach Club, sitting on Seaworld Drive, is the latest attempt to help spruce up the Gold Coast and introduce more European-inspired concepts to the beach-soaked city. And while it’s definitely got the right aesthetic, only time will tell whether it’s offering enough quality to match,

Until then, you could certainly do worse while on the Gold Coast than parking up here with the boys on a sunny day. Daybeds and cabanas are neatly arranged across the space, building up that simplistic blue-and-white Mediterranean aesthetic you’d find in places like Mykonos and Saint-Tropez. There’s even a bit of Tulum thrown in there for good measure, making it pretty clear what kind of a crowd this is targeting.

You can book in a four-hour booking for bitter groups from 10 to 15 people. The grand cabanas are the pinnacle offering here, while smaller groups should opt for a sun lounge leased at a max of two hours. The cheapest seats come with a minimum spend of $150 per person.

Inside La Luna Beach Club on the Gold Coast

You won’t win any prizes for guessing what kind of food is offered here. Seafood is the obvious focus, promising fresh catches from the ocean like oysters, yellowfin tuna tartare, fried crispy baby squid and kingfish ceviche. You can also order up Moreton Bay bug buns and lobster & scallop ravioli along with wagyu beef burgers, fruit platters, sorbet and gelato. La Luna doesn’t break its mold.

When it comes to drinks, you’re leaning toward those sweeter, summer-minded cocktails like lychee martinis and kiwi gin sours alongside whatever classic you want. Much more reliable would be to look at the beer selection on tap – no doubt there are a few Queensland stalwarts there – and an appropriately long and showy list of wines and Champagnes.

If you feel like something more substantial, there’s also an onsite restaurant adjacent to the floating beach club. Mare, headed by Chef Meyjitte Boughenot, complements the pontoon with Mediterranean dishes – primarily char-grilled steaks and pasta.
