The tech world may paint innovation as how humanity progresses for the better, which certainly makes for good marketing, but for the most part – it’s really just an ongoing game of one-ups-manship. The latest challenge has been issued by the ultra-luxurious TV brand C Seed, who have unveiled a 165-inch / 1,350kg MicroLED monster simply dubbed the M1, and currently being billed as the world’s very first foldable screen of its kind.

Designed for the upper-upper echelons of society – as in the top 0.001% tax bracket – C Seed M1 have well and truly united the best of both worlds. With all four panels unfolded and standing 7 feet tall, the M1 offers quite an imposing display that’s more than equipped for those evening viewings of Netflix, the F1, and whatever people generally watch at 3 AM. Once you decide your eyes need a break from all that 4K resolution, it discreetly retracts into a hidden compartment within the floor. Out of sight, perhaps, but surely never out of mind.

“Big wall-mounted TV screens are an anachronism in modern interior design,” says Alexander Swatek, C Seed Co-Founder.

“Therefore, C Seed took a totally different path and came up with a revolutionary design.”

The C Seed M1 leverages MicroLED technology, HDR10+ support, as well as a special physical coating on the screen’s surface to ensure the truest blacks, most vibrant colours, and virtually no possibility of glare. Featuring the company’s patented Adaptive Gap Calibration, there’s also virtually no borders between each panel, providing a perfectly seamless visual experience. The M1 has an integrated 2.1 speaker system (twin 250-watt broadband speakers + 700-watt subwoofer).

Naturally, home entertainment kit of this calibre doesn’t exactly come cheap. Available in black, gold, silver, and matte “Titan” grey starting from July 2021, you’re looking at around US$400,000 (AU$510,000).
