If you spend any serious time on TikTok or Instagram, you’ll almost certainly be aware of the hype surrounding the Fujifilm X100 camera series. It’s so popular that whenever it arrives back in stock, it sells out almost immediately, so the news that the Fujifilm series is back for the X100VI edition (sixth, for those who prefer their numerals Arabic) is massive for anyone who loves high-quality image making.

Since its debut in 2011, Fujifilm’s X100 Series has enjoyed massive popularity thanks to its top-line Hybrid Viewfinder, elegant design, user-friendly interface, and unparalleled image fidelity.

The X100VI is the sixth iteration of the range and has all the features enthusiasts loved about previous generations: exceptional image quality, portability, a featherweight frame, and Fujifilm’s signature colour reproduction prowess.

For the X100VI, we now get the groundbreaking 40.2-megapixel X-Trans™ CMOS 5 HR sensor, and the lightning-fast X-Processor 5 image processing engine for even better image clarity. Additionally — as a first for the X100 Series — the In-Body Image Stabilization function has been incorporated into the body of the camera and now has up to 6.0 stops of stabilization.

Despite these level-ups, the camera’s dimensions have remained almost entirely the same as the previous generation, so previous-gen owners can expect more of the same compact usability.

“We’re thrilled to introduce the Fujifilm X100VI, transcending photography into an art form,” said Shaun Mah, a Fujifilm Australia General Manager.

“Following the buzz of its predecessor, the X100V, which captivated the photography community and trended across social media, the X100VI transforms everyday moments into extraordinary memories. This compact powerhouse, more than just a camera, is a creative companion for photographers, videographers, and even smartphone users seeking to elevate their craft.”

To commemorate Fujifilm’s 90th anniversary in 2024, a Limited Edition X100VI of just 1,934 units will be launched, each featuring a bespoke box, special strap, soft release button, and historical cards. The camera body itself will bear the engraved corporate logo from Fujifilm’s inception in 1934, accompanied by a unique serial number.

Thanks to the truly impressive popularity of the X100 Series, simply getting your credit card out and punching the numbers in won’t be enough to wrangle a Fujifilm X100VI.

Registration for the purchasing ballot opens today and closes at 11:59 PM AEDT on February 27th. Happy snapping.
