Gucci continues to surprise its legions of fans with unexpected collaborations that always seem to work, this week launching a health and wellness ring in collaboration with Oura. The Finland-based wearable tech company has slowly been growing over the last couple of years, but this collaboration with Gucci has to be one of its most exciting launches to date in a modern meeting of form and function.

It might seem like an unlikely partnership for Gucci, however, the Italian fashion house has been successfully finding more ways for its clients to enjoy the brand’s products of late, with the recent Xbox collaboration another example. You might not be dripped out in Gucci sweats or pyjamas as you workout or sleep, but you’ll still be able to enjoy your Gucci x Oura ring as it serves up practical biometric feedback.

A common complaint about some health and wellness rings is they don’t look any good, but as you’d expect with Gucci at the helm of the designer’s studio, this collaboration actually looks great. The black ring features the iconic interlocking G logo in real yellow gold, while a braided pattern wraps its way around the black PVD-coated titanium ring, completing the quietly cool design.

Arriving with an accompanying app that presents the information captured by Oura’s research-grade technology, the ring will be able to offer insights that are similar to what you might expect from a wrist-worn device such as a Fitbit or similar. The ring is Oura’s Gen3 model that features heart-rate tracking, activity monitoring, sleep analysis, and more.

“Oura has always held a firm belief that wearables can be both innovative and stylish,” said Michael Chapp, Oura’s Chief Operations Officer.

“As a health and wellness platform at our core, we recognize that what you wear also impacts how you feel. Oura’s ring form factor has consistently set us apart in biometric accuracy, comfort, and style, and with the Gucci x Oura Ring, we’ve brought fashion and function even closer together.”

The Gucci x Oura ring has an RRP of $1,590 and is currently available from your nearest Gucci boutique, as well as being sold online. If you’re after a wearable health device that looks good, while offering a touch of class, this is it.
