For most, when you hit a hundred laps around the sun, you’re just looking forward to your letter from the Queen. For the luxury division of Mercedes, it means a very special limited edition vehicle, which in 2021 is the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class “Edition 100”.

It’s an impressive milestone reached by the luxury automotive manufacturer, which was originally established to produce Zeppelin engines during the 1910s. It wasn’t until 1921 that the company released their first production car, writing the first chapter of what would become a study in refined luxury sedans.

As you might have guessed, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class “Edition 100” will be limited to just 100 units worldwide, as well as 100 units of the GLS Edition SUV. As you might expect from Mercedes-Maybach, the body of the sedan is generously proportioned, with an elongated wheelbase and the sweeping curves that saw it rise as a competitor with Bentley and Rolls Royce.

Powering the S-Class is a 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine, with all-wheel drive and an impressive 621 horsepower. The paint job is also best-in-class, featuring a two-tone combination of Cirrus Silver and Nautical Blue, which has been hand-applied to the rather large surface area of the luxury passenger car.

Inside the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class “Edition 100”, you’ll find a sound-insulated rear cabin for a whisper-quiet ride. That is of course, when you aren’t listening to the Burmester 4D surround sound system. The interior also features seats that are upholstered in either crystal white or silver grey pearl leather, and are both heated, as well as containing a built-in massage system.

Orders for the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class “Edition 100” will open from the fourth quarter of this year, and are expected to be available from dealers at the beginning of 2022. It comes with a drive-away price in NSW of $608,275.
