With a net worth that’s recently eclipsed AU$4.4 billion, Michael Jordan is a man who doesn’t need to think twice about spending multiple millions on a car. Being an NBA legend means everything he’s ever touched has basically turned to gold (such as this $3.3 million pair of sneakers), but when he had (slightly) more modest means Michael Jordan once owned this BMW 850i.

Unlike that pair of sneakers, however, this ex-Jordan BMW 850i that’s up for sale could sell for a relatively sensible price. The 1991 car was purchased by Jordan in 1995 and only has 30,000 miles on the clock, despite the odd scratch or blemish in the Mauritius Blue Metallic bodywork and Light Parchment leather upholstery.

Under the bonnet is a 5.0-litre V12 engine that was capable of no less than 296hp when it left the factory and is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The car received an oil change in May of last year and a brand-new clutch in 2017, giving it a clean bill of health.

The stamped service booklet and other documentation are still with the car and boast the signature of the one and only Michael Jordan, locking it in as the real McCoy. With five days remaining until the Bring A Trailer online auction concludes, the current leading bid is a surprisingly achievable US$60,023 (AU$89,140).

If you’re looking for an unforgettable way to start 2024, you could buy a BMW 850i that once belonged to MJ. Because when he decides to sell his Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster, it’s going to sell for a helluva lot more.
