We can’t all be Ryan Reynolds. But we can at least try looking a bit like him. Emphasis on “try”… and “a bit”.

Here are some style tips to learn from Twitter’s sassy sweetheart:

Sometimes, a tighter fit is a good fit.

There’s a time and place for the oversized. But generally, a tighter fit is a better fit. I say tighter, but I mean closer given the spectrum of body shapes and so forth. Take note of the shrunken tees and what it can do for the torso, arms, etc.

Casual doesn’t mean low-effort.

The man himself has a good diversity, and rather versatile, wardrobe. That much is clear. Scratch a bit beneath the surface to observe a little closer, however, and you’ll soon realise that even when the overall tone is casual, there is still an abundance of effort being put into the sartorial presentation. Casual doesn’t mean bumming it. It just means more relaxed.

The scruffy look still requires maintenance.

In the same spirit of the previous point, scruffy is not synonymous with an absence of maintenance or effort. That means keeping the facial hair trimmed, hair adequately showered, and a quick comb/styling wouldn’t hurt. Skin care is a bonus. You only get the one human canvas, after all.

Dressing to impress isn’t the end goal.

Yes. Dressing to impress doesn’t always hurt. And yes. Ryan Reynolds is someone who has been known to dress to impress. But that shouldn’t be the end goal. The end goal should be to just dress well in general, non-contingent of the occasion, scenario, what have you.

One colour, multiple tones.

Sometimes you don’t have to have too many colours going when coordinating an outfit. Sometimes a single colour worked to its natural tonal gradient is all you need. More so in the case of suits than anything else.

Things would be a lot easier if you looked like Ryan Reynolds.

When all is said and done, all of these little lessons would work way better if we looked like Ryan Reynolds. Here’s to working with what ya got, fellas. Hey, there’s a lesson for you. Work with what you got. Not exactly related to Ryan Reynolds (obviously).

Blue is nice.

Blue is nice. Not a tip or a lesson. Just a something that needs to be stated.
