Welcome to Fragrance Friday, where each week we’ll be keeping you abreast of the newest and most iconic releases in the dynamic world of men’s fragrances. Born out of the desire to showcase one of the most overlooked, yet versatile, elements of any discerning man’s style this weekly column will help you finesse your own signature scent. This week, we’re looking at the fragrances worn by celebrities – no, not the designer fragrances backed by celebrities for a quick buck, but some of Hollywood’s favourite fragrances.

From Pierce Brosnan and Brad Pitt to Chris Hemsworth and Leonardo DiCaprio, many of Hollywood’s smoothest operators have expressed their love for particular perfumes in interviews before. And for men looking to build up their signature scent, it’s worth knowing at least what some style icons prefer when it comes to scent. As such, we’ve scoured the internet for clues and rounded up some of the best fragrances beloved by celebrities.

Ever wanted to know Pierce Brosnon’s go-to? It’s Creed Green Irish Tweed. Bradd Pitt? The Fight Club actor has gone on record to praise Lorenzo Villoresi Musk. Even ol’ Arnold Schwarzenegger has a favourite fragrance – and it’s quite a good one – in the super classic, and aggressively masculine, Guerlain Vetiver.

Regardless of whether or not these fragrances play a central role in their respective styles, they were given shout-outs for a good reason. Celebrities don’t often want to be seen as rookies with no taste, so if you aren’t taking any suggestions from Boss Hunting, take it from them. These fragrances are well worth a look if you want to channel a bit of red carpet-charm into your personal style.

Best Fragrances Worn By Celebrities

Pierce Brosnan: Creed Green Irish Tweed

James Bond likes to keep it classic, it seems. Although that’s not really any surprise, so reading that he has a particular love for Creed Green Irish Tweed is somewhat expected. As one of Creed’s best perfumes, it’s a simple, straightforward scent created by Oliver Creed and Pierre Bourdon with lemon and iris spinning into a base of ambergris and sandalwood.

Top notes: Lemon verbena, iris
Heart notes: Violet leaf
Base notes: Ambergris, sandalwood

Arnold Schwarzenegger: Guerlain Vetiver

Arnold Schwarzenegger isn’t exactly renowned as a style icon, but it’s clear the man has impeccable taste. He reportedly favours one of the oldest perfumers in Fragrance with Guerlain Vetiver. It’s a timeless summer scent, presenting a minimal profile with high-quality ingredients like lemon, tobacco, vetiver, nutmeg and pepper.

Top notes: Lemon
Heart notes: Tobacco, vetiver
Base notes: Nutmeg, pepper

Brad Pitt: Lorenzo Villoresi Musk

One of the smoothest men in the game. Brad Pitt has always had an enviable style about him and his signature scent is apparently no exception. The legendary actor has expressed his love for Lorenzo Villoresi Musk in interviews before so it seems he likes to keep it woody with the likes of sandalwood, oak moss and musk. Surprisingly, this is one of the least expensive celebrity favourites when it comes to fragrances, so make sure you’ve got this sitting on your shelf next time you want to channel a bit of ol’ Rusty Ryan.

Top notes: Cardamom
Heart notes: Sandalwood, oak moss
Base notes: Musk

Antonio Banderas: Christian Dior Eau Sauvage

The chiselled Desperado actor has been a lady’s man since the stone age so believe him when he says that Christian Dior Eau Sauvage is an absolute magnet for compliments. I mean, it could just be because he is Antonio Banderas as well, but if this one works for him then it’s sure to turn a few heads.

Top notes: Lemon, bergamot, basil, rosemary, caraway, fruity notes
Heart notes: Jasmine, coriander, orris root, carnation, patchouli, sandalwood, rose
Base notes: Oakmoss, vetiver, musk, amber

JAY-Z: Creed Millésime Impérial

Turns out the Jigga man doesn’t wear his own fragrance – Gold by JAY-Z (or rather, perfumer Ilias Ermenidis launched in 2013 and is not good). The billionaire businessman and business, man, likes to keep it classy with Creed Millésime Impérial. The regal gold bottle that carries this scent is one of Creed’s most opulent, containing a marine scent that is all fruit and sea salt on the top, bubbling down to introduce more musk and woody notes on the base.

Top notes: Sea salt, fruity notes
Heart notes: Sicilian lemon, bergamot, iris, mandarin orange
Base notes: Sea notes, nusk, woody notes

Chris Hemsworth: Hugo Boss EDP

Chris Hemsworth is evidently a fan of leathery fragrances, landing on the well-worn Hugo Boss EDP as his go-to. The scent was only launched a few years ago but has been a massive hit for the label, mostly getting at those warm spicy notes that are perfect for winter, dialling in apple, black pepper and bergamot before turning to those fiery notes of cinnamon, chestnut and cardamom while the base is rounded out with musk and vetiver.

It’s also the most affordable scent on this list of the best fragrances worn by celebrities.

Top notes: Apple, black pepper, bergamot
Heart notes: Cinnamon, chestnut, cardamom
Base notes: Musk, vetiver

Leonardo DiCaprio: Annick Goutal Eau D’Hadrien

Leo likes those quintessential European citrus fragrances, it seems. He has been quoted before expressing his love for the award-winning Annik Goutal Eau D’Hadrien, which hits on those typical Mediterranean notes but favours the kind of quality you’d associate with brands like Acqua Di Parma and Santa Maria Novella. With this stunner, you’ve got lemon and bergamot pushing through on the top before cypress, basil leaf and grapefruit bridge through to those typical woods like sandalwood and amber.

DiCaprio wants to constantly smell like he just got back from the Amalfi Coast, apparently.

Top notes: Bergamot, Sicilian lemon, citron
Heart notes: Mediterranean cypress, basil leaf, grapefruit
Base notes: Sandalwood, amber, patchouli, vanilla
