While Adelaide Airport isn’t exactly a rigorous international hub, there are still a fair few passengers – who aren’t just South Australians – needing to jet set from the tiny capital. And in some good news for that tight circle, the country’s fifth-largest airport has finally received its first overdue international departure lounge with the pay-per-use Plaza Premium Lounge opening just a few days ago.

Adelaide Airport’s Plaza Premium Lounge will look and function exactly like you’d expect for anyone familiar with the brand. Several airlines that fly out of Adelaide will be using it, so there’s little hope of privacy, but it’s a welcome addition nonetheless for those who want a bit of relaxation before their long haul.

Eligible passengers will have access as well as anyone who pre-purchases entry online with rates being $63.90 for two hours or $76.50 for five hours. Anyone who holds an American Express Platinum Card will also get complimentary access.

Air New Zealand, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines and Malaysia Airlines are examples of some of the international carriers that fly out of Adelaide Airport, so there’ll be a fairly broad spectrum of passengers who’d want to use the new Plaza Premium Lounge. As above, don’t go in expecting any sort of privacy, and pre-purchased access may be a bit harder to come by considering this is the only lounge after you clear customs and security for the international terminal.

Adelaide Airport’s Plaza Premium Lounge is open from 7:30 AM to 12 PM seven days a week, with extended hours until 1 PM on Mondays and Thursdays. Passengers heading along can expect a specialised barista station as well as a selection of local and international dishes served in a buffet style. Currently, no alcohol is served in the lounge, but there is a list of non-alcoholic beers, mocktails and wines alongside teas and soft drinks.

There is very little in the way of amenities for your pre-flight ritual, but there is access to high-speed WiFi and numerous power outlets. A shower can be arranged for an additional fee.
