Victoria’s Pyrenees wine region, less than 2 hours drive from Melbourne, is home to some of Australia’s oldest vines and it’s from these, Taltarni’s The Patron is sourced.

The Patron is the new hero of the Taltarni range, scrupulously handcrafted from 50-year-old vines and represents the true essence of the brand’s winemaking.

Blended from specially selected 2-acre sites of both Cabernet Sauvignon (51%) and Shiraz (49%), a total yield of just 4 tonnes is hand-harvested before a unique co-fermentation. After 6 weeks maceration on skins, the wine is drained, pressed and barrels are filled – 60% new French oak, 30% 1-year-old and 10% 2-year-old – before 24 months of ageing. From there, only the best barrels are selected for The Patron blend, ensuring the concentration, texture and elegance showcases the very best of the brand.

Tasting Notes

Complex, measured and deeply layered, this remarkably long and evenly paced red exudes elegance and balance. Dusty and smoky, its alluring bouquet of bright black and red berries, cedar/cigar boxy oak and spicy undertones reveals a whiff of dried herbs. The palate is astonishingly pure and measured, caressing its way over superbly fine tannins towards a mouthwatering finish. A meticulous wine, and no surprise to anyone who really understands the quality of this site and the unique longevity of its wine. – Jeremy Oliver (96 Points)

Individual bottles arrive in a black gift box while half dozens are presented in an excellent fire-branded wooden case.
