Between all the pandemic-induced delays; a poorly organised mudslide of a debacle (which also included a meningococcal outbreak); and the noticeable 30% decline in attendance for 2023’s edition… it hasn’t been an easy few years for the crew behind Splendour in the Grass.

Now, multiple sources have confirmed that Splendour in the Grass 2024 has been cancelled, rendering the North Byron Parklands empty for the previously occupied dates of July 19th to July 21st.

According to an insider with direct knowledge of the situation, lacklustre ticket sales are the primary cause of this unfortunate development.

Australia’s most prolific live music affair — which featured a lineup comprised of Kylie Minogue, Arcade Fire, Tash Sultana, Hayden James, The Presets, Angie McMahon, Yung Gravy, and plenty more this year — follows in the footsteps of yet another beloved Byron Bay-based event run by Secret Sounds: Falls Festival.

Both join the likes of Groovin The Moo, Dark Mofo, Coastal Jam, Goomfest, and ValleyWays on what is concerningly a growing list of casualties.

At the time of this writing, neither Secret Sounds, the festival itself, nor the festival’s official partner in Triple J have commented on the matter. Standby for an official statement on the cancellation of Splendour in the Grass 2024.
