50 Cent (real name: Curtis Jackson) has revealed an 8 Mile television series is currently in the works with the full support/blessing of Eminem (real name: Marshall Mathers III).

“I’m gonna bring his 8 Mile to television… We’re in motion,” 50 Cent stated in a recent interview with Big Boy TV before confirming the ‘Lose Yourself’ rapper’s involvement.

He continued: “It’s gonna be big. I’m working. I ain’t got no duds. I’m battin’ a hundred, I’m battin’ a hundred.” Obviously referring to Starz’s ongoing Power series which has managed to spawn multiple franchise spin-offs such as Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, and Power Book IV: Force

50 Cent went on to explain how he envisions this small-screen adaptation as a modern retelling of the Academy Award-winning semi-autobiographical film, comparing the proposed project to Peacock’s gritty Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reboot backed by Will Smith himself.

“I wanna be able to show and offer a lot more details, things that you would say in an interview or different things that you’ve already used, that you put out there, and stuff like that,” said 50 Cent, teasing the possibility of a fleshed out “backstory” showcasing the younger years of Eminem’s Jimmy/B-Rabbit.

“You’ll see those things kind of surface and the temperament of the characters.”

The original 8 Mile was directed by Curtis Hanson (LA Confidential), written by Scott Silver (The Fighter, Joker), and starred Kim Basinger, Mekhi Phifer, the late Brittany Murphy, as well as Anthony Mackie, in addition to Eminem.

Aside from winning the Oscar for Best Original Song in 2002, it grossed an impressive $242.9 million against a $41 million production budget.

Stay tuned for updates on the potential 8 Mile television series.
