Our Top Picks On Binge September 2021

Vigil Season 1 (Released Weekly)

Stumbling upon six-part BBC police drama Vigil a few weeks ago on Binge was one of the best things any Line of Duty fan could have asked for. Both shows share the same team. The rest of the cast, particularly Suranne Jones (Gentleman Jack) and Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones) help make up a solid cast as the series tracks the mysterious disappearance of a Scottish fishing trawler, and a suspicious death onboard a nuclear submarine, which brings the police into conflict with both the Royal Navy and the British secret services. The weekly drops continue for the miniseries, which concludes with a finale on September 27.

The Walking Dead Season 11 (Released Weekly)

Last week when I chose The Walking Dead as one of the highlights of Binge’s monthly release schedule, I was conscious of the fact that many abandoned the monstrously successful show a few years ago (after a certain character’s graphic death). The show has been trying to find its feet ever since and stumbling more often than that. However, after seeing the first two episodes of what will be The Walking Dead‘s final season, I’m confident that this is an essential watch, even for those who need to catch up. AMC is clearly throwing everything they have as they wrap up what really is an end-of-an-era for the golden age of episodic TV. And the cast is doing incredible work too, with the show’s first two episodes featuring some of the best writing I’ve seen on the show since Season 4. There’s little doubt the strength will remain as Binge keep up with the weekly drops.

Gangs of New York

There isn’t much coming to Binge in September that excites me. But at least we’ll be getting some classic films debuting on the service. 2002 Martin Scorsese epic Gangs of New York is one of those, and it’s well worth a watch for those who haven’t seen it yet. The idiosyncratic film is brimming with personality, held up by a strong cast that includes the legendary Daniel Day-Lewis, Leonardo DiCaprio, Liam Neeson, and Cameron Diaz.

How’s Things Looking For Binge Australia In September 2021?

Much like August, things are looking a little light for Binge in September. The most exciting TV show continuing on from last month is BBC miniseries Vigil. That’s the one that would appeal to the biggest audience, and given how top-notch the show has been so far, it’s nice to know that as of the 27th you’ll be able to binge it straight from start to finish without any waiting. Aside from that, The Walking Dead’s final season will continue with weekly drops, as will the 10th season of the cult hit American Horror Story. That much should keep fans of horror TV satisfied, while anyone waiting for some worthwhile movies would be happy to see Gangs of New York, Pacific Rim Uprising, and Scarface on the list. Of course, Scarface is the best of them, but most people would have already seen the Al Pacino classic more than a dozen times.

There aren’t many exciting documentaries coming out, unfortunately. And that’s an area Binge has been really light on lately. Love Crimes of Kabul looks like an interesting watch, but it could also just be there as a topical lure. I Am Paul Walker is an excellent, emotional tribute to the late star, so at least that should keep you hooked.
