Tom Hardy has taken a break from being an apex predator on both the grappling mats and screens to narrate Sky’s very first co-production with Netflix: a five-part nature documentary series titled Predators.

While this project isn’t exactly scripted, it’s no less dramatic than the Hollywood star of Venom, Peaky Blinders, Mad Max, and The Dark Knight Rises fame’s other works.

Each episode focuses on a specific predator from one part of the world — from the cheetahs in Tanzania, polar bears in Canada, lions in Botswana, to the pumas found in Chile and wild dogs of Zimbabwe — as they’re put to the ultimate test “among the evolving landscapes and environment.”

Sky adds: “Fighting to protect their kingdoms in the wild, each predator is faced with unique obstacles and challenges in what is undoubtedly the ultimate power struggle to maintain their rule in the natural world.”

“These five fascinating creatures are hunters, parents, and survivors alike, embarking on a series of treacherous journeys in the wild. Their stories all point to a critical moment in their lives, as they fight to secure the future for their next generation in this thrilling quest for survival.”

This docuseries has been commissioned by Sky’s Managing Director of Content Zai Bennett and Director of Documentaries & Factual Poppy Dixon; executive produced by Wendy Darke with Vanessa Coates serving as showrunner and Dan Smith onboard as director.

Predators starring Tom Hardy is now streaming via Sky Nature, Sky NOW, and Netflix — check out the trailer above.
