As we gleefully hurtle towards The Bear season 2 release date – which has been set for June 22nd, 2023 (US), in case you missed it – FX has dropped a full-length trailer to preview what Carmy & Co have been cookin’ up during the interim.

“This is coming from a place of wanting to start fresh and clean,” says chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) to open the trailer.

“This is going to be a destination spot,” elaborates chef Sydney Adamu (Ayo Edebiri).

Of course, those sentiments haven’t precluded their kitchen from being any less disorderly. If anything, the “facelift not gut”/”facelift and gut” has only introduced fresh ingredients of chaos to the recipe.

The Bear season 2 synopsis is as follows:

“Carmy (Jeremy Allen White), Sydney Adamu (Ayo Edebiri), and Richard “Richie” Jerimovich (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) work to transform their grimy sandwich joint into a next-level spot. As they strip the restaurant down to its bones, the crew undertakes transformational journeys of their own, each forced to confront the past and reckon with who they want to be in the future.”

“Of course, it turns out the only thing harder than running a restaurant is opening a new one, and the team must juggle the insane bureaucracy of permits and contractors with the beauty and creative agony of menu planning. The transition brings a newfound focus on hospitality as well. As the entire staff is forced to come together in new ways, pushing the boundaries of their abilities and relationships, they also learn what it means to be in service, both to diners and each other.”

The Bear Season 2 Trailer: Chaos Continues In Carmy's Kitchen

In addition to the above, the cast will re-welcome the likes of Abby Elliott as Carmy’s younger sister Natalie “Sugar” Berzatto, Lionel Boyce as aspiring pastry chef Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas as veteran line cook Tina, and Matty Matheson as the Berzatto’s childhood friend slash occasional handyman Neil Fak; with Edwin Lee Gibson, Oliver Platt and Molly Gordon in recurring roles.

Currently, it’s unclear whether we’ll be treated to more appearances from Jon Bernthal as Michael “Mikey” Berzatto, Carmy and Sugar’s late brother who died by suicide, Joel McHale as Carmy’s abusive executive chef from his vaunted past in New York City, or Molly Ringwald as the Al-Anon meetings’ moderator.

Considering season 2 promises to be very introspective vis-a-vis Carmy’s demons, according to White himself, a few flashback scenes featuring Bernthal and McHale may very well be on the docket with more from Ringwald on the way.

And while character details for his role are still very much under wraps, Variety has also confirmed Bob Odenkirk (Breaking BadBetter Call Saul) will be featured in the sophomore instalment.

Once again, The Bear season 2 release date is scheduled for June 22nd, 2023 (US) – check out the full-length trailer above.
