Given its visibly hefty budget and considerable marketing campaign, it’s highly doubtful we’ve seen the last of House of the Dragon collaborations around the world. Random activations and partnerships from major TV shows with local brands are a dime a dozen these days – remember when Stan turned Sydney’s Thirsty Bird into Los Pollos Hermanos for Better Call Saul? – so really is it any surprise that Binge has tapped everyone’s favourite dessert showpony, Messina, for some House of the Dragon gelato?

Not that it makes much thematical sense. Unless you consider that dragons melt things. But Binge and Messina will be going full Westeros for one day only on Monday, September 12 by putting up two different and brand new gelato flavours dedicated by and shaped around the highly enjoyable Game of Thrones prequel.

The gelatos of ice and fire will be churned out by the thousands and given away for free on Monday between 12 pm and 9 pm. You’d have to rock up in person to one specific Messina store – the one on King Street, Newtown – though, as the promotion isn’t being run on any delivery platform and won’t be nationwide.

And it could be worth the effort of popping around to Messina’s Newtown store. First Messina has pumped out ‘House Vanillaryon’ with burnt vanilla gelato flecked by smoked chocolate brownie pieces and burnt honey caramel. The famed gelato brand has also created ‘Heir to the Cone,’ which is red velvet cheesecake gelato with a dragonfruit puree.

Messina has made exactly 3,000 scoops of these gelatos, all to give away for free so folks can stream the fourth episode of House of The Dragon (or the first four – if you haven’t caught up yet) on the day. Not a bad shout at all if you’re in the area and are in the mood for something a bit different than your usual scoops of Dulce de Leche and Salted Caramel White Chocolate.
