We’ve featured more than a couple of idyllic tree change homes here at On The Market in recent months, and for good reason. If you don’t need to be chained to the desk in your corner office, why should you be? The most recent estate within this theme is 21 Caladenia Close, Elanora Heights, which is easily some of the best living you can hope for within 45 minutes drive of Sydney’s CBD.

The expansive home enjoys the name “Star Trek” thanks to its elongated and angular profile when seen from above, but likely also because of just how high it sits above the surrounding landscape. Nestled in the hills overlooking Narrabeen Lagoon and next to the Elanora Country Club, the property is comprised of five acres of beautiful bushland.

While the landscape and view are key drawcards in their own right, the home itself is truly spectacular, featuring an evenly split five bedrooms, bathrooms and car spaces. Tucked away at the end of a cul-de-sac, the building’s design tips its cap to the spirit of a contemporary resort, while offering equal amounts of privacy and natural light.

Effectively constructed as a pair of linked ovals, almost all of the residence is contained on a single level, however thanks to the topography of the property each bedroom also enjoys its own balcony. Arriving up the stairs into a long entrance hallway, you’ll find the main lounge space to your left, which in turn opens up onto the main open-air terrace in the home.

Adjacent to the lounge space is the cinema and study, while if you continue along the main entrance hall you’ll arrive at an enormous open-plan area that contains the kitchen, dining and living spaces. Past this central communal area and you’ll find all five south-east facing bedrooms, with the master bedroom at the very tip of the building. Enjoying 270-degree views over its balcony, the master bedroom also features a large walk-in-robe and ensuite bathroom complete with a bath that presents floor to ceiling views toward the water.

On the smaller lower level, the home offers an additional guest bedroom and kitchen, as well as a passage towards the enclosed car park that is neatly tucked under the main home. For such a visually impressive home, it’s certainly been thoughtfully designed to navigate easily.

The final, and arguably most compelling, element of the home is the turquoise blue infinity pool that sits cosily adjacent to the main entrance hall. The shimmering waters contrast against the white columns and walls of the residence, immediately reminding us of Slim Aarons’s iconic style of poolside photography.
