Ooni Is Bringing Its First-Ever Electric Pizza Oven To Australia

To date, most of the best pizza ovens in Australia have been multi-fuel beasts that generally sit in the backyard. Top brands like Gozney and Ooni have fast become champions of the biggest trend in home entertaining, with products like the Gozney Roccbox and Ooni Koda finally taking attention away from air fryers. Aside from Breville, there aren’t many options on the market for electric pizza ovens so it’s not too much of a surprise to see something like the Ooni Volt 12, which was announced recently and is set to launch in Australia this spring.

As Ooni’s first electric pizza oven, the device has been designed for both indoor kitchens and outdoor spaces to up the versatility for home cooks looking to show off their pizza-making skills. The brand claims the electric pizza oven can reach a blistering 450°C in 20 minutes, which should be sufficient enough to bake a good quality Neapolitan-style pizza in 90 seconds.

The oven ships with a 13-inch cordierite baking stone and has two heating elements inside. One is perfectly placed for downward heat while the other heating element sits under the stone to help heat evenly and crisp up those bases. Other features include built-in controls for temperature, time and balance.

There’s also a new Boost function to quickly return the pizza stone to the preset cooking temperature, similar to how gas oven users would turn down the heat when the pizza is loaded in and then turn it back up after to heat the stone back up.

Designed with clear triple-paned glass, the Ooni Volt 12 is pretty much a plug-and-play device. The convenience trumps most pizza ovens on the market at the moment, and while gas generally cooks faster, electric is typically seen as more convenient. The portable oven is easy to store away and weighs around 17.8 kg so is easy to take around to other spaces in your house.

Ooni Volt 12 has been designed with a weather-resistant shell for outdoor use and a trigger has been included to automatically shut the oven off after 45 minutes of inactivity.

The new electric pizza oven launches alongside Ooni other product, the affordable, multi-fuel Ooni Karu 12G which will retail for $699 and is even more portable at 15.5 kg. That one has been designed for outdoor use at picnics and beach parties, with the ability to reach 450 °C in 20 minutes.

Ooni Volt 12 will launch in Australia spring 2023 with a price tag of $1,499.
