Collectively, we’re living through a very interesting moment in pop culture right now: when the pool of men who are widely regarded as ‘sex symbols’ has become so vast, never mind varied, that it has room enough for everybody from Daniel Craig to Harry Styles, and even those seven blokes from BTS. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
To that (highly un-scientific) list, I’d wager we could probably add Stanley Tucci – the American actor, author and filmmaker who everybody and their aunt will presumably remember from classic mid-2000s dramedy, The Devil Wears Prada.
Recently, the man better known as “the Internet’s hot uncle” sat down with GQ to chat all things ‘essential’ for his daily routine – in a recurring video segment that is now among the American lifestyle magazine’s most watched around the globe.

Without wanting to jump the gun, it’s hard to ignore just how much of the stuff Tucci has cosigned would prove invaluable for all of us going into the festive season – doubly so, if you’re the sort of man who enjoys entertaining, hosting at home and generally just being the most put-together mothereffer at everyone’s yuletide gatherings.
Tucci’s top-line recommendation is a decent cocktail shaker – to which, I might suggest you also add a strainer and jigger. Capable of being used to make mixed beverages of the stirred and shaken variety, it’s a nifty thing to recommend someone if they’re looking for a new and on-brand hobby to pick up this December.
It also bears mentioning that the shaker is essential to the Instagram vid that precipitated the whole ‘Hot Uncle’ thing – in which Tucci (for reasons unbeknownst to us mere mortals) decided to shake a Negroni for around a billion users. Granted, the Searching for Italy host’s disgustingly infinite reservoir of charisma ensured I was none too bothered. Besides, he’s made a ton of cocktails on-camera since then – often with his sponsored gin of choice, Tanqueray No. 10 – that are meant to be shaken.
