To mark the 75th anniversary of Aston Martin‘s DB vehicles, the famed British marque has announced what it’s describing as, “the most complete and accomplished DB model in [Aston Martin’s] history. Put simply, no series production Aston Martin has dedicated itself so completely to setting new dynamic benchmarks.” Say hello to the Aston Martin DB12.

From first impressions, it’s more aggressively muscular than its DB11 predecessor and boasts crisp exterior lines, larger intakes, and wheel arches that are absolutely crammed with forged alloy and rubber. In short, a great piece of design. But what’s arguably more impressive is the powertrain beneath the bonnet.

Aston Martin has bid farewell to the much-celebrated V12 engine and replaced it with a 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 (from Mercedes), which was also present in the DB11 as a 528bhp power unit. Needing a little extra oomph to get folks excited about the brand-spanking DB12, the boffins over at the Warwickshire HQ put their heads together for a range of modifications to the V8, including bigger turbos, better cooling, and modified camshafts.

The result? More than 150bhp extra has been pulled from the engine, taking it up to a DBS-challenging 671bhp. This translates to a 3.6-second 0-100 sprint time and a very respectable top speed of 325 km/h, making it a seriously compelling proposition.

Inside, the cabin of the Aston Martin DB12 has also been improved with an in-house designed infotainment system featuring a 10.25-inch screen and the option of a Bowers & Wilkins 15-speaker sound system, as well as all the luxurious detailing you’d expect from the folks at Aston Martin.

While there’s no word on pricing for the Aston Martin DB12 yet, or if we can expect to see them arriving in Australia anytime soon, deliveries are expected to begin internationally in July.
