Hall of fame member and all-around music legend Rod Stewart is well-known for enjoying the finer things in life, especially when it comes to his car collection that’s boasted everything from Ferrari and Porsche to Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce. Now, one of the rarer cars he ever owned has come up for auction, with a Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary from 1989 that Rod Stewart was the custodian of hitting the auction block online.

Brought to market by the team at Bring A Trailer, this stunning black supercar is one of just 658 examples of the 25th Anniversary model that were ever created during its short 3-year production window (recently rereleased as the Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4), arriving for sale with a previous California title in Rod Stewart’s name, service records and close to 12,000kms on the clock. Stewart owned the car for a little over a year, after which it made its way to a family in Ohio in 1995 where it remained until 2022 and was carefully maintained for its entire life, still featuring pristine bodywork designed by Horacio Pagani as an update to the original Marcello Gandini Countach design.

Powered by a screaming 5.2-litre DOHC V12 engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission, it also has a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, multi-piece 15” OZ Racing wheels and its iconic scissor doors that are guaranteed to turn heads wherever you pull up. Currently, the Lamborghini Countach owned by Rod Stewart is up for sale in an online auction, which has a further nine days till it ends and has a current winning bid of US$370,000 (AU$547,864), suggesting there’s a little room to climb yet.
