When it comes to vehicle design, there are some sweeping silhouettes that look like they’re travelling at warp speed, even when they’re standing still. Among them include the cigar-shaped Jaguar E-Type, the contoured Porsche 356 Speedster and the flowing lines of the Lamborghini Miura, but the newest among these sleek ranks is the Bandit9 Nano electric scooter.

Drawing inspiration from falling meteors as they pass through the atmosphere, the Bandit9 Nano features a curvacious stainless steel shape (the same stainless steel used to make Rolex watches) made to glide effortlessly through traffic. This retro-futuristic look is certainly an unusual one in a market dominated by plastic-shelled electric scooters, but you can’t help appreciate such an attractive scooter that looks as though it was plucked from the deck of Queen Padmé Amidala’s Royal Starship in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (Episode I).

Bandit9 is a Saigon-based electric vehicle company on the cutting edge of design across its stable of scooter, motorcycle and supercar offerings, all of which follow the same retro-futuristic aesthetic. The Bandit9 Nano is the newest vehicle from the Vietnamese automaker, designed to be the “conscious choice if you’re looking to minimize your carbon footprint,” and the “stylish choice if you’re looking for something with class.”

The Nano is available in two different models, one which tops out at 45km/h and doesn’t require a specific motorcycle license in most parts of the world, as well as the Nano+ that has a top speed of 70km/h and does need the additional paperwork. Both versions are powered by the same Electric Wheel Hub Motor and detachable Lithium Ion battery, which can be charged fully in 4 hours and delivers around 100kms of range between sockets.

So if you’ve been thinking about adding a pocket rocket to your life for those quick trips around town, the Bandit9 Nano electric scooter needs to be on your shortlist of options. The Nano starts from US$4,499 (AU$6,996), while the Nano+ arrives with an RRP of US$4990 (AU$7,760).
