Golf often faces some (admittedly well-founded) criticism for its perceived exclusivity and self-seriousness: with stringent dress codes and a country club culture that’s pervasive in many regions around the globe.

Right now, two Aussie brands are having a fair crack at combating these elements: with the folks at Walker Golf Things and Shortees linking up for a golf apparel capsule that you could — and indeed, should —  wear to the pub.

Shortees is a Sydney-based par 3 “pitch and putt” course that is refreshing in its approach: offering a laidback setting for newcomers and seasoned golfers alike, both of whom are keen for a less formal air to the game. This relaxed atmosphere extends well beyond play, allowing for a greater range of clothing to be worn on-course.

Recognizing this unique opportunity, Walker Golf Things — an Australian golf apparel brand with roots in the skateboarding community — has partnered with Shortees to launch an approachable clothing line. The collaboration consists of 8 pieces: all drawing inspiration from the realm of baseball, through details such as pinstripes and appliqué patches.

“Shortees has always loved the look and feel of Australian brand Walker Golf Things, they make gear you can wear on the course and to the pub,” say spokespeople from the course. “That’s important to us.”

Crowning the range are two knit polos: decorated with vertical pinstripes and collab branding, designed to be worn straight from the green and into the weekend. The standout piece, the 54 Varsity Jacket, boasts snap button closures; prominent Walker branding; and the number ’54’ on the back — a nod to Shortees’ course par.

Priced between $60 and $200, this collection merges the worlds of golf and casual fashion, available for purchase on both Shortees and Walker Golf Things’ websites.
