Ahead of Argentina’s semi-final clash against Croatia at the 2022 FIFA World Cup currently happening in Qatar, a helicopter paid homage to modern football’s GOAT – Lionel Messi – by flying a giant version of his national jersey over the skies of Rosario (Messi’s hometown). Currently, the identity of the main culprit behind this show of love s unclear.

Argentina would, of course, prevail in the early hours of this morning with a decisive 3-0 victory. Messi absolutely drilled it past Croatia’s Dominik Livakovic during a penalty kick in the 34th minute before Julain Alvarez notched another goal of his own less than five minutes later. Then in the 69th minute, Messi would masterfully set up Alvarez for a double.

Messi’s Argentina will now face off against either the defending champions in France, led by Paris Saint-Germain teammate Kylian Mbappe, or Morocco –depending on the outcome of tomorrow’s match between the latter two. In the event France makes it through, Argentina will have a prime opportunity to avenge their heartbreaking 4-3 quarter-final loss to Les Bleus during the 2018 FIFA World Cup held in Russia.
