Despite being innovators in the sneaker game, Nike may have gone one step too far with their latest development.
Continuing to release new interpretations of the classic Air Force 1, the multi-billion dollar sportswear label has created a sneaker/slider hybrid that’s sure to cause controversy amongst sneakerheads.
Named the Air Force 1 VTF, the trainers consist of black leather construction and replace the heel with a strap, somewhere between a pair of Crocs and sliders.
The dark colourway is accented by gold features, a glitzy rubber sole and the famous Nike swoosh wrapping around the heel strap. Retaining the vintage look of the Air Force 1, complete with cushioning Air-Sole technology, the VTF is a head-turning yet puzzling design from the footwear giants.
While it’s certainly an interesting take on the Air Force 1, it’s hard to say if these kicks will kick-off. This could be the reason why Nike are just testing the waters with children’s sizes for the time being.
Retailing for US$90 and available to purchase from Nike.com, these shoes are a fashion statement only the brave could pull off.
