Where the likes of Axiom and Space Adventures are gearing up for week-long trips to the ISS, Space Perspective is offering a slightly different form of outer world tourism with the Neptune Space Balloon.

Soon, you may be able to experience a simplistic, no-frills ascent 100,000 feet above the ground to the โ€œedge of spaceโ€. And by experience, I mean take in the views and hit up the capsule amenities which will reportedly include internet connection and a bar. Space martinis are obviously a must.

โ€œLess than twenty people have ever been to the edge of space under a space-balloon โ€“ far fewer than have been in orbit around our planet,โ€ says Space Perspective.

โ€œFor the first time, we can make the thrill of spaceflight accessible to you โ€“ our Explorers โ€“ in a safe, comfortable manner with minimal physical requirements and as simple as boarding an airplane.โ€

The pressurised capsules mean you wonโ€™t have to suit up in space kit, either. As Space Perspective has noted, itโ€™s very much a โ€œshirts-sleeve environmentโ€.

Space Perspectiveโ€™s Neptune Space Balloon experience will last a total of six hours (two of which will be spent up top at the peak) โ€“ concluded by a gentle descent and splashdown in the ocean. Scheduled to begin in 2021, pricing is around US$125,000 for a single person.
